The Pay Equity Act
The law on pay equity was instigated in Quebec in 1996. Since then, all enterprises of 10 employees and more are required to conform to it and maintain pay equity. Note that all enterprises must also conduct a maintenance exercise every five years. For instance, those who executed the initial exercise in 2010 must conduct a maintenance exercise in 2015.
